The Safety Site Supervisor serves as the on-site safety representative for My Ride To Work (MRTW). in Reno, Nevada. This position acts as the eyes and ears of the Safety Department in the field—ensuring safe operations, supporting drivers, maintaining compliance with company and client standards, and responding to incidents or emergencies in real time.
The Safety Site Supervisor will work closely with operations, dispatch, and safety leadership to monitor driver fitness for duty, assist with bus parking and passenger flow, perform site and safety checks, and conduct investigations when incidents occur. This role is highly visible and requires strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations & Site Presence
- Be physically present at the on-site loading zones during shift changes to assist with bus parking, traffic control, and passenger safety.
- Monitor drivers for fitness for duty, professionalism, and compliance with safety standards (seat belts, PPE, cell phone usage, etc.).
- Observe passenger behavior and intervene respectfully to de-escalate conflicts or unsafe actions.
- Identify and immediately correct unsafe conditions in parking, loading, or staging areas.
Safety Oversight & Compliance
- Conduct daily Safety and Site Checks per MRTW standards (bus staging, pedestrian flow, lighting, cones, signage, etc.).
- Perform ride-alongs to evaluate driver behavior, defensive driving, and adherence to company policies.
- Support incident and accident investigations, including scene documentation, driver/passenger statements, and preliminary root cause analysis.
- Assist in post-incident debriefs and support retraining efforts as directed by the Safety management team.
Reporting & Documentation
- Submit daily site and safety check reports, including photos, observations, and corrective actions taken.
- Maintain logs of delays, service interruptions, and any passenger or driver issues.
- Complete required documentation for all incidents/accidents and submit reports to the Safety Department before end of day.
Leadership & Communication
- Represent the Safety Department professionally in all interactions with drivers, clients, and passengers.
- Communicate clearly with dispatch and operations leadership regarding route delays, incidents, or safety concerns.
- Provide coaching and feedback to drivers in real time to reinforce safe behaviors and MRTW standards.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings, site walks, and training initiatives.
Schedule:
- Split Shift: 4:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Schedule aligns with Tesla shift changes; occasional weekends or overtime as needed for incident response or safety audits
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation, fleet safety, or supervisory role (bus, logistics, or industrial environment preferred).
- Prior experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, or driver training is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies applicable to passenger bus operations.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in high-paced environments.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and be outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
